THE COLLABORATION FOR EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE

The Achievement Council

September 18, 1991

Bill Haggart
Vice President Western Region
Performance Learning Systems, inc.
224 Church Street
Nevada City , CA 95959

Dear Bill:

I wanted to write to share with you my great pleasure over the
success of our Summer Institute. As the new school year opens and
we reconnect with the TEAMS at our schools it becomes manifest that
the work we so carefully planned for them regarding organizational
development, culture building, the change process, and conflict
resolution has been integrated into the thinking and planning of TEAM
members at the school site. Who could ask for more?
The TEAMS are communicating more effectively;
planning for and affecting further school improvement and reflecting
their new knowledge of the change process and group dynamics as
they work together.

I particularly want to acknowledge your expertise in
collaboratively planning with Bonnie and me to create an Institute
tailored to the real and specific needs of our schools. This was a real
challenge, as you know, since our schools span the grade levels and
school improvement continuum.

We also appreciated your responsiveness to request for shifts
in emphasis as the Institute progressed; this allowed our school
TEAMS to believe we are truly responsive to their needs.

It was a pleasure to work with you and we look forward to
continuing the working relationship.

Sincerely,
Beverly JimeAez
Consulting Principal

Dear Bill:

Thank you for your informative presentation on Learning
Styles at the Applied Academics/Tech Prep workshop.
We were delighted with the level of interest and excitement that we
observed and your presentation was an important contribution
to the synergy that developed. The evaluations of the day's
activities confirm the same things we saw!

The workshop was initially limited to 100 but due to space
reallocation we were able to expand registration the week
prior to it being held. We had 139 who participated This
demonstrates the growing interest and energy in this topic.
It is exciting to see this level of motivation in support of
Applied Academics/Tech Prep.

Thanks again for an informative and useful presentation.
Sincerely,
Larry McClure, Director

Dear Bill:

Thank you for the major role you played in assisting our TEACH,
SEE and KEYS Cadres.
All of the cadre instructors I talked to appreciated the
time you spent with them. Both TEACH and KEYS felt they had
gained new insights into the materialsand were recharged to
go out and present excellent classes. SEE will need some
work, but they feel more comfortable with where they are at
this time.

Your speech on Sunday was particularly provocative, causing some
real soul-searching as to just what or who creates the "profession"
of teaching.

On a personal note, I enjoyed meeting you and discussing
everything from professional standards to England. I have thought a
lot about the idea of a non-profit foundation as an adjunct to WEA.
The possibilities are intriguing. Expect a call from me one of these
weeks to talk some more (when I slow down - ha!).

When you get the opportunity, please send me a copy of your
over-worked science teacher cartoon. I can think of many places where
it will be useful.

Thanks again!
Sincerely,
Field Representative for Instruction

UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 10

Roy A. Sandoval, Curriculum and Instruction

November23, 1994

To Whom It May Concern:
During my career, I have had frequent opportunities to utilize
consultants. While many have come and gone, few have gained the
admiration and respect of my staff as Bill Haggart of
Insights & Innovations. Bill's extensive training and
background coupled with his communicative skills allow him to
quickly understand the goals of the particular group and establish
a working relationship. Additionally, his skill as a moderator and
innovator are invaluable, when working with a group of people from
diverse educational backgrounds and opinions. Few can
guide people toward a solution that will work for everyone the way
Bill can. In 1992 I contracted with Bill and Insights & Innovations to work
with my staff in developing a model for assessing teacher performance
relative to a performance based pay or career ladder program. Though the
task seemed insurmountable at the time, Bill helped the staff build an
evaluation system using the existing administrative evaluation instrument
and a teacher portfolio reflecting student achievement, professional
growth and educational leadership. During the process, Bill was also able
to clarify a number of issues regarding elements of pedagogy and evaluation.
Throughout the process, I was impressed with Bill's ability to bring people
together into a cohesive, working group. He represents the very best.
Since we first utilized Bill's expertise, I know of a number of
districts in Arizona who have also contracted with
Insights & Innovations with excellent results. Without reservation, I
would recommend Bill Haggart and Insights & Innovations for
bringing about positive and progressive changes within a school
site or district. If I can be of further assistance, please do not
hesitate to call.
